Touch Display not working

Troubleshoot the LOQED Touch Display (the exterior screen or outside module): identify your symptom, reboot the display, and learn when a replacement is needed.

The Touch Display (also called the screen or outside module) is the exterior part of your LOQED Touch Smart Lock. It contains the touch buttons and the screen you use to enter your PIN. If your Touch Display is not working correctly, this article helps you find the cause and the right solution.

Because there are several different problems that can affect the display, first identify which symptom below best matches what you are seeing. The correct solution depends on the exact symptom.

Step 1: Identify the symptom

  • A. The text on the display looks distorted or pixelated.

  • B. The display shows text, but the touch buttons do not respond to your finger.

  • C. The display does not turn on, shows no text and does not react to touch.

  • D. The LOQED app shows a notification that the Touch Display has a problem.

  • E. The buttons light up, but the screen does not show any text.

Step 2: Reboot the Touch Display (symptoms A, B, C and D)

For symptoms A, B, C and D, rebooting the display usually solves the problem. There are two ways to reboot:

  1. Using a 9V battery (easiest)
Briefly hold a 9V battery against the two metal pins on the display module. After a few seconds the LOQED logo appears on the display – your lock is now rebooting.

  2. By briefly removing a battery from the inside

    • Remove the handle from the lock using the hex key.

    • Keep the plastic ring safe – it is easily lost.

    • Pull the metal cover off the lock.

    • Remove one of the batteries for a few seconds.

    • Put the battery, metal cover, plastic ring and handle back in place.

For more details, see Rebooting the lock. After the reboot, check whether the display works correctly again.

Step 3: Buttons light up but there is no text (symptom E)

If the buttons light up but the screen does not show any text, the display needs to be fully discharged before it can recover:

  1. Open the inside of the lock and remove one of the batteries (see method 2 above for how to remove the handle and cover).

  2. Leave the battery out for 15 minutes so the Touch Display discharges completely.

  3. Put the battery back and reassemble the lock.

  4. Test the display again.

If the screen still does not show any text after this, the Touch Display needs to be replaced. See "Still not working? Replace the Touch Display" below.

Important: what not to do

Do not reinstall or reset the whole lock to fix a display problem. The Touch Display is a separate part from the motor module. Reinstalling the lock or resetting its software will not solve a Touch Display issue and is not necessary.

Still not working? Replace the Touch Display

If none of the steps above solve the problem, the Touch Display can be replaced. The Touch Display is a separate component, so you do not need to replace the entire lock.

Within the 2-year warranty period
