Quick Reference

  1. Get a 9V alkaline battery (Duracell recommended)

  2. Press battery terminals against metal pins on lock's Display Module

  3. Hold firmly for ~30 seconds until display activates

  4. Enter code or use smartphone while still holding battery

  5. Assist lock by pushing/pulling door if needed

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Get a 9-volt battery - Any standard rectangular 9V battery will work, but for the best results, use a high-power alkaline battery (Duracell is recommended).

  2. Locate the power pins - Find the two metal pins on the Display Module of your lock (shown in the image above).

  3. Connect the battery - Press the battery terminals firmly against the two pins. The polarity (which terminal connects to which pin) does not matter for this emergency power function.

  4. Wait for startup - Keep the battery connected while the lock powers up (approximately 30 seconds). You'll see the display light up when it's ready.

  5. Enter your code or use your smartphone - While keeping the battery firmly pressed against the pins, enter your access code or use your smartphone to unlock the door.

  6. Open the door - Push or pull the door if necessary to help the lock mechanism operate more easily with the limited power from the 9V battery.

Important:

  • Keep pressing the battery firmly against the contacts until the door is completely unlocked

  • If the battery is disconnected even for a second, the lock will reboot and you will need to repeat the process

  • A 9V battery provides less power than the regular 8 AA batteries, so you may need to assist the lock by pushing or pulling on the door

Choosing the Right Battery

For the best emergency access experience, we recommend:

  • Use a high-power alkaline 9V battery - Brands like Duracell or Energizer are known for their high power output and reliability in emergency situations

  • Avoid "long-life" or "super long-life" batteries - These batteries are designed for low-drain devices (like smoke detectors) and provide a steady but weak current over a long period. They typically don't deliver the high current needed to effectively power the lock mechanism

  • Keep a spare 9V battery - Store one in your car, bag, or with a trusted neighbor for emergency situations

Once you're back inside, remember to replace the regular batteries of your lock immediately to prevent future lockouts.

Troubleshooting

Display doesn't light up

  • Ensure the battery has sufficient charge

  • Check that battery terminals are making firm contact with both pins

  • Try repositioning the battery to ensure proper connection

  • Try a different 9V battery if available

Lock doesn't respond to code or app

  • Make sure to hold the battery firmly in place throughout the entire process

  • Wait at least 30 seconds for full power initialization

  • Check your internet connection if using the app

  • Verify your code is correct or try an alternative access method

If normal opening doesn't work: Calibration

If you're unable to open the lock with your PIN code or app while using the 9V battery, as a last resort you can try calibrating the lock:

  1. Keep the 9V battery connected to the pins

  2. Open the LOQED app on your smartphone (note: you must be an administrator to perform this action)

  3. Navigate to the lock settings and select the calibration option

  4. Follow the calibration process, which involves the lock fully opening and then moving to the locking position

  5. Important timing: Open the door exactly when the calibration is in the process of opening the door

Lock activates but doesn't fully unlock

  • Try pushing or pulling the door while the lock is operating

  • Ensure there's no mechanical resistance in the lock or door

  • Try a fresh, high-quality 9V battery (alkaline, not long-life)

  • If you hear the motor running but it sounds like it lacks sufficient power, it is likely that the wrong type of battery is being used. Switch to a high-power alkaline battery

Contact Support

If all troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the issue:

  1. Open the LOQED app on your smartphone

  2. Access the live chat feature within the app

  3. Upload a video demonstrating the procedure you attempted

  4. Ensure the video captures the sound of the motor so the support team can assess the situation properly

Our support team will analyze the video and provide personalized guidance to help you regain access to your home.
